Tim Newton - Team Manager
Growing up at Silverstone, where his father was circuit doctor, Tim Newton joined Williams in 1994 after a long career in other categories of motor racing dating back to 1981. Rising to team manager in 2006, Newton says: "As the manager, my job is to make sure everybody else is doing theirs."
He admits to taking failure personally, meaning that a season in which Williams were "fundamentally not good enough" was particularly painful. "We've reached the bottom and we're on the way up," he says. "We need to re-establish our credibility, certainly."
Motivation to put things right and a positive outlook are essential in his job. "I believe anyone can do anything. Given time and the right tools, nothing is impossible. I might not be able to do a triple-SalcHow, but I'll give it a go."
