Ed Wood joined Williams F1 as the team’s Chief Designer in April of 2006. A seasoned motorsport engineer with a proven track record at Ferrari, Renault and Prodrive, as well as two engineering degrees from Manchester and Oxford Universities, Ed’s role is about co-ordinating the design process of the team’s race cars from the beginning to the end.

Dedicated and passionate, Wood believes Williams will fight back after a difficult couple of seasons. “Williams has a reputation for recovering after years when it has underperformed. Nothing in its soul has changed,” he says.

To progress in Formula One, you have to embrace risk. It can fall in your favour, or it can go against you. For Williams in recent years, it’s been the latter. But with people such as Ed Wood on board, the team has the ability to engineer itself out of difficulties and back on the path to success.
