iWitness in Istanbul: Friday
Posted on Saturday 06 Jun 2009 and tagged with iwitness, istanbul, turkey.
Happy birthday to Patrick Head, who turns 63 today. Our director of engineering isn’t in Turkey this weekend, but the race team is toasting his good health (any excuse for a party, ed). Perhaps Patrick’s stayed at home to cook some of his scrumptious Yorkshire Puddings for a birthday party…
Nico Rosberg is a linguist, we all know that. He’s fluent in English, French, German and Italian, and he’s now learning Spanish. Yet he surprised even us today when he began speaking to local broadcaster TNT in Turkish. Is there no end to the boy’s talents?!
Congratulations to our test driver Nico Hulkenberg, who took pole position this afternoon for tomorrow’s GP2 Series feature race. The ‘Other Nico’, as he’s known inside AT&T Williams, has got faster by the race in his rookie season. What chance a win tomorrow?
When iWitness dropped into the GP2 paddock to congratulate Hulkenberg on his qualifying performance, he found F1 drivers Jarno Trulli, Nelson Piquet and Tonio Liuzzi all having dinner in the Series’ hospitality suite. Something wrong with the nosh in the F1 paddock, guys?
