Nico's Bahrain Blog: Thursday

There’s no point dwelling on what happened last weekend. My Chinese Grand Prix didn’t work out from a strategic point of view and there’s not much else to say. Obviously, 15th place was a disappointing result.
I’m now 100 percent focused on this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, which is a race I’ve always enjoyed. I have a good record here too: in 2005 I won the GP2 Series at the track; I scored points here on my Grand Prix debut in 2006, and took the race’s fastest lap, and last year I finished eighth. I think the FW31 should work well, so I’m looking forward to getting back into the points this weekend.
I’ve been in Bahrain since Monday, chilling out and training. I like the country and have had fun: on Tuesday I took the race team out to dinner at a restaurant called “The Meat Company” (no prizes for guessing what was on the menu); on Wednesday I ran the track with my trainer Oli and on Thursday I did a piece to camera with German broadcaster RTL in the oldest souq in Manama. It involved me drinking a lot of sweet tea and looking at gold jewellery!
According to my press officer, many of the locals thought I looked like Leonardo di Caprio. What do you think? Answers on a postcard…
