17:23: Kubica sets his best time of the session so far and is 12th in the first of the BMWs.
17:28: Vettel, with personal bests in sectors 1 and 3, spins at turn 3, ending his session.
17.30: Massa is 10th quickest (1m27.064s)
17:58: Barrichello does a 1m 26.157 to go second, a tenth slower than Rosberg.
18:00: As the flag falls on the season’s opening day, Rosberg and Williams are quickest (1:26.053), from Barrichello’s Brawn (1m26.157s), Trulli’s Toyota (1m26.350s) & Nakajima is 7th (1m26.560s).
Sectors:
Nico Rosberg: In both sessions sector two was working particularly well. There are only two ‘real’ corners in the sector, but it’s really interesting and it feels good in the car. The FW31 is well balanced all round the track, but seems even more so there than in any other places. After a winter of testing, it’s good to get out on a new, fresh track and we seem to be in a better position than we thought.
Kazuki Nakajima: Sector two is my favourite here at Albert Park. It includes a complete variety of corners, from the medium speed in turn 6 to the slow speed corners like 9, while 11 and 12 are the quickest. It makes it hard to establish a rhythm, but sector two certainly keeps your attention!
