The AT&T Williams team were back on track today for the first day of a four day test at Jerez. The team's official test driver, Nico Hulkenberg, was in the cockpit of the FW31 which is having its second outing following its January debut in Portugal last month.
In a field of just four other teams, Nico covered 82 laps of the 4.423km track, a total of 362kms, and set the second quickest time of the 2009 runners with a 1:22.443.
Kazuki Nakajima will take over testing duties tomorrow.
Sam Michael, Technical Director, Williams F1:
“Today Nico Hulkenberg worked on mapping, systems checks and set-ups on the FW31 in preparation for the first Grand Prix in Melbourne. Although there was some wet weather in the middle of the day, there was plenty of dry running and we have a lot of useful data to look at tonight.”
