Kazuki's Brazilian Blog: Sunday

That was a very disappointing end to the year. As I accelerated out of Turn 2 on the opening lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix, my right rear tyre was hit by David Coulthard’s spinning Red Bull. The impact spun me round and did quite a lot of damage, although none of it terminal.
I was able to continue in the race, but the rear of the car felt very loose. My race engineer Xevi Pujolar said that the caster of the rear wheels had been knocked out of line by the impact, which explains why the car felt so loose at high speed. Still, I persevered until the end of the race and came home in 17th position.
Overall, I think this has been a good first year for me in Formula One. I’ve had some good races and the most important thing is that I’ve learnt a lot. That process will continue over the winter because we have a very intensive period of development coming up as we prepare for next season’s new rules.
Thanks to everyone at AT&T Williams for your help and support this season; I’m really looking forward to working with you again in 2009.
