After the disappointment of Fuji Speedway, where my home race was ruined by a first corner collision, I can’t wait to get back in my FW30 in China. There’s no time to think about what might have been at home; I have to focus on the next race.

I drove during Friday morning free practice at Shanghai International Circuit last year, so I know the layout even though I’ve never previously raced there. It’s an interesting track, with lots of different corners. Importantly, there are a couple of overtaking places on the lap as well, so it should make for an exciting race.

It’s been another busy week for me: I did a couple of days’ PR in Tokyo at the start of the week, before flying to Shanghai on Wednesday. I then arrived at the track nice and early today to give myself plenty of time to take a look around. One of the things that’s changed since last year is the number of mosquitoes in the paddock. The team hospitality areas surround a lake and I could see them buzzing around everywhere this evening while I was doing some interviews. Now, where’s that anti-histamine?
