iWitness in Japan: Friday
10 October 08
There must be something in the water at Grove because there are three expectant parents on the AT&T Williams race team this weekend. Mechanic Pete Simmons is absent from Japan while pending the birth of his newborn, while Kazuki’s race engineer Xevi Pujolar and hospitality manager Katie Aspinall will both become parents for the first time early next year: congratulations all round! Pampers sponsorship in ’09, anyone?
Nico Rosberg visited nearby Gotemba’s shopping mall this evening in search of a digital camera. “I go to all these great places,” he says, “and have no means of recording where I’ve been. I wish I’d had a camera when I was in Bali last week.” Well he found what he was looking for, so look out for his images on the AT&T Williams website soon.
Suffering from jet-lag and in need of a little pick-me-up, AT&T Williams account managers Phil Kennard and Nick Hayes headed to the Fujiyoshida rollercoaster this evening. They got the thrill they were after because it turned out to be the fastest rollercoaster in the world, pulling 4.25g while accelerating from 0-179kph (111mph). “It was awesome,” said the guys in unison.
News through from England: Tamara Ecclestone is fronting PETA’s new UK campaign. Bernie’s eldest daughter has taken off her clothes in an effort to dissuade others from wearing fur. “Once you’ve seen the ways in which these animals are killed and how brutal and unnecessary it is,” she says, “I think people would choose not to wear fur.” This isn’t the first time that Tamara’s bared all for the camera; remember when she was the cover girl on the January 2007 edition of FHM magazine?
