iWitness in Singapore: Sunday
28 September 08
Despite scoring a career-best second place in the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg was still nervous about seeing his father after the race. After all, when Nico finished third in Melbourne at the start of the year, Keke told him that he should have finished second! It turned out that Nico need not have worried: Keke merely hugged him and said “Well done, son.”
Frank Williams may not have enjoyed wearing his tartan ‘troos’ yesterday (see iWitness, Saturday), but it might not be the last he – or we – get to see of them. “Perhaps they brought us some luck this weekend,” said Nico Rosberg. “I hope he wears them many times in the future!”
To the outside world, the Singapore GP might appear to have gone very smoothly for AT&T Williams. But there was one area of concern during the race: Kazuki Nakajima’s media time. The two Safety Car periods prolonged the race to such an extent that Kazuki – who had to leave for the airport at 11pm – was still driving when he was scheduled to be addressing the fourth estate! And, no, he wasn’t tempted to park up.
While the bulk of the AT&T Williams squad heads back to Europe for the two-week break before the Japanese Grand Prix, both of our drivers are to remain in the Far East. Nico is heading to Bali for a spot of surfing (is that why he’s been growing his hair recently?), while Kazuki is going home to Japan. All right for some!
