Kazuki's Singapore Blog: Thursday
26 September 08
So far, the hardest thing about the Singapore Grand Prix has been getting food. Like all the other drivers, I’m staying on European time this weekend due to the 8pm race start on Sunday and you should try finding a good restaurant for dinner at 4am around here!
All the best places close at about midnight, when I’ve just finished having lunch, and as a result I’ve had to order takeaways from the Japanese restaurant in my hotel every night. Room service gets boring after a while and it means that I haven’t seen much of Singapore’s bright lights.
Except, that is, the 2,000-watt halide lights lining the Marina Bay circuit. They are fantastic and visibility shouldn’t be a problem in the race because I think it will be like driving in the day. I ran the track on Tuesday evening and liked the layout very much. It’s slower than Valencia, the other new track on this year’s calendar, but there are some interesting sections to Singapore. It also looks like there’ll be one proper overtaking opportunity.
I can’t wait to get started!
