There was only one topic of conversation on my flight back to the UK this evening: should Lewis Hamilton have received a 25-second penalty after the Belgian Grand Prix? I need to see the TV footage before giving you my opinion, but the mood on BA flight 401 was that he shouldn’t!

As for my own race, it was pretty tough. There wasn’t much difference between a one and a two-stop strategy in terms of time, so we elected to go with one stop. Unfortunately, I lost ground on the opening lap after being hit by another car at Turn 1, but there was no damage to my FW30 and I was able to continue.

Thereafter I had a fairly quiet race, until three laps from the end when rain started to fall. Knowing whether or not to pit for wet tyres was a difficult decision and we decided to come in on the penultimate lap. It meant that I had lots of grip, but there wasn’t enough time for me to progress up the order, so I came home in 14th place.

I’m back in the UK for a couple of days now, before heading out to Monza on Wednesday. Our recent test at the track went well, so I’m hopeful that we can have a good race this weekend.
