Juan Pablo Montoya’s average speed when setting the record for the fastest lap ever recorded in a Formula One car. He achieved this in qualifying for the 2004 Italian Grand Prix, breaking his own record set two years previously at the same circuit.

When Alan Jones recorded the fastest lap in the 1980 Italian Grand Prix at Monza it was the 10th time a Williams car had achieved the feat.

The Williams team has won six times at the Italian Grand Prix, set pole position seven times and the fastest lap nine times. They have also had 19 podium finishes and scored a total of 144 points.
Birthday Present
Juan Pablo Montoya’s father’s birthday coincided with the 2001 Italian Grand Prix so he attended at the race where he received a wonderful present, his son’s first ever Grand Prix victory. It was Montoya’s only win that season.

Williams cars have won the Italian Grand Prix six times. Nelson Piquet and Damon Hill have won it twice, while Nigel Mansell and Juan Pablo Montoya have claimed victory once each.
