AT&T Williams was in a party mood last weekend, with everyone enjoying the team’s annual summer party. Various fairground rides were laid on in the grounds of the factory at Grove, and there was even a “Pets Corner” for those who wanted to pat small rodents. Both race drivers showed up, although only Kazuki confessed to feeling sick after going on too many rides!

Nico flew to the team’s bash from Monaco, where he celebrated his 23rd birthday last Friday. Rumour has it he partied with friends until late into the night. “First we went to the Sass Café” says Nico, “then Jimmyz later on. It was a great night!”

On the subject of birthdays, let’s give a quick shout to Ann Bradshaw. Our former press officer celebrates her birthday today, but for her there’s none of the glitz of Monaco, only a quiet drink in the Silverstone paddock. Infinitely preferable, we’re sure…

Age seems to have caught up with ex-Williams F1 driver David Coulthard. Today he announced his retirement from Formula One at the end of this year, ending a 15-year career at the top that began with us in 1994. “It was a pleasure working with David,” says Frank Williams. “He’s an extremely good driver and a true gentlemen. I wish him well.”
