Kazuki's French Blog: Saturday
Posted on Sunday 22 Jun 2008 and tagged with kazuki, blog, saturday.
I’m not going to dwell on today’s qualifying session. It was disappointing to be knocked out in Q1, but I hope to be more competitive in race trim.
It made for a long afternoon with my engineers. First, Xevi [Pujolar] and I looked through my data to discover where I could have found more time in qualifying, and then we planned our strategy for tomorrow’s race. It’s quite difficult to overtake here, so knowing what fuel level to run is quite tricky.
That decision made, I made my way back to the circuit hotel, where I was stopped by a fair few fans (mostly dressed in Renault kit!). I stopped to sign a few autographs anyway. As for the hotel, at best it’s a functional establishment; at worst it’s a bit tatty around the edges. But at least it’s convenient and the food’s good, so I ate well before heading to bed.
The hotel manager stopped me for a quick snap as I headed up (looks a bit cheesy, eh?), which is something she did with every driver staying in the hotel, so I guess he’s got an impressive scrapbook!
Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.
