Kazuki's Saturday Blog in Spain

Your
biggest rival in Formula One is your team-mate. You work together to improve
the performance of your car, but, that said, you really want to beat him as
well. He’s the only other guy on the
grid using the same equipment as you, so he’s your benchmark.
To
beat Nico – who is one of the fastest drivers on the grid – in qualifying was a
satisfying result. I’ve been able to get a tune out of the FW30 all weekend and
I was very happy to beat him by 0.2s in Q2. And, judging by the number of
people who came to my media scrum after the session, so were people in the
media centre!
It’s
a reflection of our good relationship that there were no hard feelings after
the session. Nico immediately shook me by the hand and said “good job”, and
that meant a lot.
Unfortunately,
the performance of the FW30 isn’t what we’d hoped this weekend. It was
disappointing for AT&T Williams that neither of us got into Q3, but we’ll
work hard overnight to ensure that we can have the best race possible tomorrow.
