The start of the European season marks the return of Nico Rosberg’s motorhome to the Formula One paddock. He parks it alongside those of David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello and, new for this year, Sebastian Vettel. “I love staying in it,” says Nico, “and it will be great to eat some of Vincent’s food again. I have the best chef in the world working with me!”

The start of the European season also marks the return of unearthly alarm calls for the AT&T Williams marketing team on Thursday mornings. The guys looked a tad weary today, having had to meet at Grove at 4am, before travelling on to Heathrow. Could this be why Communications Manager Liam Clogger is missing this race?

There was no respite for anyone at AT&T Williams during the three-week break since Bahrain. The technical team were busy introducing an aerodynamic upgrade on the FW30, and even the guys that run the motorhome were flat-out. Jo Turley was busy at Rockingham last weekend, working for Seat in the British Touring Car Championship. “The weather was awful,” she says.

Jenson Button headed to Sevenoaks in the UK last weekend to contest his first serious triathlon. The former AT&T Williams driver finished 16th out of 252 starters and pronounced himself “happy” with the result. “The bike and run were across very hilly countryside,” he says, “so it hurt a lot. But these events are a great way to keep in shape between the races.”
