Kazuki's Blog - Saturday in Malaysia

SATURDAY
These are not ideal circumstances. When my parents decided prior to the start of the season to come to the Malaysian Grand Prix, I quietly hoped that I’d qualify well and be challenging for points in the race. As it is, I’m starting last thanks to the 10-place grid penalty that I incurred in Melbourne last weekend, and it’s going to be hard to make the points as a result.
My father, Satoru, knows a lot about racing. He contested 80 GPs and is still heavily involved in the Japanese racing scene; my mother, Akemi, hasn’t seen much of my racing career because I’ve been in Europe for the past two years. It’s great to have them both here. Quite a funny thing: I offered to get them a paddock pass so they could watch the race from the air conditioned AT&T Wiliams hospitality suite, but they declined, saying they’d rather be exposed to the 75 percent humidity and watch from a grandstand!
It’s great to have you here, Mum and Dad, and I hope to do you proud in the race.
