Race
A warm welcome back to the Shanghai International Circuit after its absence from Formula 1 since 2020's race cancellation.
Shanghai has hosted the Chinese Grand Prix since its inauguration in 2004 with this impressive circuit of eye-catching architecture and facilities.
Its layout, with a combination of long straights and a diverse range of corners, features wide corners to encourage passing and differing lines, and two long straights where slipstreaming guarantees wheel-to-wheel action.
Circuit Overview:
The Shanghai International Circuit sits at 5.451 km (3.388 miles) with 16 turns, starting with the seemingly never-ending snail-shaped Turns 1 and 2 β€” two tightening right-handers that demand careful braking and precise throttle control.
Sector 2 begins with a right-hand hairpin, but it's mostly single file through the curves until reaching the entirely different third and final sector.
There's a 1.2 km straight between Turn 13 and Turn 14 for drivers to drag race down, and the lap concludes on the pit straight, which itself is 0.8 km long for more flat-out racing.
