Aided by the forecasted rain, Melbourne’s Albert Park delivered a thrilling afternoon of racing today. Starting on the fourth row of the grid, Rubens Barrichello again scored points for the team in his second race for AT&T Williams, finishing in eighth place. Nico Hulkenberg’s debut Australian Grand Prix ended before it began as he fell victim to Kobayashi’s turn six incident on the first lap. The team now pack up and travel straight to Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysian Grand Prix next Sunday.

Rubens Barrichello:
It was a good race, but we should have finished in seventh really. We took the chance to change tyres when we did and go for it. I thought everyone else would also come in, which is why I went for that route. More points for the team today is positive though. The car is good enough; we will just be picking up more points before we get podiums.

Nico Hulkenberg:
Today was obviously pretty disappointing. I was already in the corner when I was suddenly hit from behind by Kamui Kobayashi. It was quite a big impact. I’m not sure what caused it, but it’s frustrating because I was looking forward to my first race here.

Sam Michael, Technical Director:
It was good to get some more points, but we need to bring more performance to the car and to the engine. Doing both is the major part of our development programme over the next few races. Rubens drove well through all the conditions he faced today. Unfortunately, Nico was knocked out of the race by another car.

i just got home from this race. what a thrilling event! very entertaining the whole way through. solid effort by rubens, could have finished a bit higher up had the cards fallen our way but nevertheless a good result, great passing manoeuvre on kobayashi at the end, right in front of where i was seated track side! really looking forward to the next round with improving results, in my opinion the car definitely has podium potential at the hands of a talented driver like rubens

It was a good Race for Rubens.
Sorry, Hulk, that was a to short race for you. We see us next week for a eastern racing weekend for next level forward !
See you.
Greeting's to all AT&T Williams F1 fan's !
P.S. The team is looking forward for better result's

Good race to watch this time. Well done JB!
Rubens gets more scores on the door but is a second a lap off the pace overall but sets 5th fastest race lap ? Not enough fuel perhaps? Have Cosworth failed to get performance/efficiency curve in the right place?
Team is being remarkably quiet about things all round so perhaps there is some embarrassment somewhere close to home?

well done team good to get more points on the board.
but we are still well short of a podium.
good luck next week

Good job guys,.. sorry for Hulk,...
go go go Rubens,...thank you

Yeah... Interesting to see Sam Michael talking about Engine and power.
Williams posted here on the web site that is happy with so many "Rubinho" fans coming to visit the posts.
But with a car 1 second slower is hard to be happy with you guys. Rubens really did a good job but the car has a better balance than expected and maybe only one Soft Tyre would be enough.
Gear Box, Engine and Electronics are really not in harmony and first two races, every sector with big straight Williams was slower than 4 other teams.
We know Williams is working hard on it, the car balance is not bad, but again 1 second behind the First car is too much!
I do wish the best for Rubens and Williams! But we need a better car!!! Not only in power but in fast curves, I see Williams also loosing some performance with too much drag of air to gain grip by aerodynamics.
GO RUBENS! GO WILLIAMS!

I can not teach Williams to work because she knows, for all who won in F1. I see an accommodation, a resignation of a team that has potential. It has to be done something and did not think this is normal. Sponsors like prowess, boldness, and not seeing at Williams. And the team has the potential to win and knows, is a championship team. But I'm afraid, because you will lose the support of sponsors from both lose. The car is a denial and the engine must be replaced by the Porsche engines. I'm in the crowd and good luck.

better and better, in the right road...well done guys. go Rubens, we trust you. Falow!

t was just constructive criticism of a fan of AT & T Wlliams, R. Barrichello and d Cosworth. I'm in the crowd for you.

Nice job,but bad luck for Nico, more luck next time.

At this moment it is not possible to earn more points...
Rubens did a great job but the car is not fast enough.
Maybe in one or two races the situation will be better

good luck for it !

...and i hope i won´t see Kamui Kobayashi, because I´m really angry !

Just stay in the points zone, whith booth cars if possible. You are doing good job.

We have seen this movie many times in formula 1. In the qualifying, results with the teeth biting a knife and during the first 2 races, final standings that show more Rubens’s skill and experience than an average car.
The final speed, it does not mean anything. In the qualifying the 2 slower cars were both Red Bulls.
Come on Williams people, prove that you are able to overcome and find the pace..

since 1979 I follow and taste of the team williams. I know that it can delay more a little, but have faith that we will come back to walk in the front

Rubens did an excelent race, showing again his fantastic talent. I guess Rub and the team were surprised by other teams not changing their tyres, and only when they realized it Rubens started to push really hard to catch them up.
Go Rubens go!!!!!
We need to be faster becouse it is not acceptable to be slower than Force India!!

Very well done Rubens ! I want to see Williams on the podium again all the team deserve it !
Is important for Hulk to have better practice if you start near the end is possible to get an incident at first corner ! Try to improve your practice Hulk come on !

RUBENS: 5st fastest lap :) goooooooooooooooooooooood

nice race! the team Evolution is visible.. the car feel better on this race.. and i hope this will be better on malaysia! GREAT work GUYS! Great WORK Rubens!

Rubens Barrichello do Brasil!

Well done, Williams!
I think it was a good call to develop an all new FW32 rather than a conservative evolution of the FW31. And the rewards will come soon! Keep up the good work!

Sam spoke the other week of issues with the car that will be addressed by Europe. What are the issues?
Hope things pick up for the Hulk.
Well done rubens - Glad Williams have a real car developer.
All the best team Willi - Go for it.

Great job Rubens !! Really... really great job.

Vai Rubinho!!!.... (= Go Rubens!!!)

Rubinho made plus a miracle….

Sam Michael, you need to arrange the gear box.

Makes what the Rubens says, it is optimum to develop the car

This race was a step forward, I hope "we'll" made a lot of steps forward!!!
Rubens was great!!!
All the best for the team! Go, and get more points from Malaysia!!

Go Rubens! #1!!

Bravo Rubens!!Bravo williams!!
Great race.
