Nico's Sao Paulo Blog: Friday

Hold the front page: Barry White has gone! I had an early night last night and my chest is much better today as a result, and so is my voice. I no longer sound like the Sultan of Smooth Soul, but I enjoyed being him for a day or so.
My physical progress was matched on the racetrack by the set-up work that I was able to do with the FW31. I completed 65 laps of Interlagos during the course of today’s two 1.5-hour sessions and I was happy with how the car handled on both the hard and the soft tyre. My fastest lap of 1:12.633s was just 0.3s slower than the fastest time of the day, so I think we can be pleased with our performance level after day one.
Now we need to maintain this pace for the remainder of the weekend. If we can do that, my number one mechanic might get lucky on Sunday afternoon because I’ve promised him my pair of Tom Ford sunglasses if I finish on the podium. Judging by the weather forecast, it doesn’t look as though I’ll need them anyway...
