The BBC’s Formula One anchorman Jake Humphrey received an unwelcome phone call this morning when Radio 1’s Breakfast Show presenter Chris Moyles rang him for a chat, unaware (really?) that it was 0400 in Sao Paulo. Jake dealt with the prank admirably, especially when you consider that he’d had a late night at the Fogo de Chao churrascaria with all the team press officers. “The moral of the story,” says Jake, “is never to give Moyles your mobile phone number.”

As mentioned above, the BBC continued ITV’s annual dinner tradition in Sao Paulo last night. They took all of the team press officers out to Fogo de Chao as a group “thank you” and, as in previous years, AT&T Williams’ director of engineering Patrick Head was the guest of honour.

While our PR gurus Claire Williams and Silvia Hoffer gorged on beef with the Beeb, the AT&T Williams mechanics continued another Brazilian GP tradition when they played 5-a-side football in the grounds of the Transamerica Hotel. The match (Nico’s side of the garage versus Kazuki’s) was intense but, unlike last year, no-one was injured…

We have a new sponsor on the nose our FW31s this weekend. AMIK, an Italian chemical importer, is Phil Kennard’s first deal since he moved from our account management department into acquisitions. Good work, Phil – plain sailing, eh?
