Kazuki's Valencia Blog: Friday
Posted on Saturday 22 Aug 2009 and tagged with kazuki, blog, valencia, spain.
As predicted, the weather conditions were very tough out there today. Cockpit temperatures were in excess of 60 degrees, which, for those of you who want to know what that feels like, is akin to sitting in a sauna – only I had racing overalls on as well!
We made good progress with the car and the tyres worked well, so I hope we can have a competitive weekend from here. We still have a few question marks regarding car set-up because grip levels changed constantly throughout the day, but we should be able to iron them out in tomorrow’s final practice session.
Fridays are always quite a long day for the drivers. After the three hours of on-track running are finished, we have a lot of meetings to attend and strategy decisions to make. I then attended the launch of the first Williams Foundation yesterday, which will be based in Angola. It’s going to be established in association with the team’s newly-appointed partner, Ridge Solutions, and I joined all of the key players – including Frank and Adam – for dinner in the motorhome.
I got back to the Holiday Inn at about 8.30pm and watched a bit of the World Athletics Championships from Berlin. It was fun seeing the prize giving for the men’s 200m, when the crowd started to sing happy birthday to Usain Bolt. That guy’s just amazing.
Anyway, see you all tomorrow.
