It was great to be back on-track at Silverstone today. It’s such an enjoyable circuit to drive, especially the quick first sector, and there was a good crowd as well. I’m told there were 60,000 people here, which was way more than we had on raceday in Turkey!

From a performance point of view, the FW31 is performing well. I was inside the top 10 in both sessions and the new parts that we have on the car were performing well. The wind was an issue this afternoon because it had increased by 10mph from this morning, but you have to expect strong cross winds here because it’s an old airfield. We made the best of it and have loads of data to look at this evening.

There’s been a lot going on off-track as well, as no doubt you’ve read elsewhere. The announcement of a breakaway series with the FOTA teams is bad news for everyone in the sport. AT&T Williams have committed to the FIA Formula One World Championship next year, but the reality is that we want to compete against the best teams in the world, so I hope a solution can be found to ensure that it happens. I think – or at least I hope – that there’s a lot of water to pass under the bridge yet.
